I’m a freelance copyeditor, proofreader and editorial project manager based in Naarm/Melbourne, working across illustrated and narrative nonfiction.
Before moving into freelance editorial work, I worked in-house at Hardie Grant Books as a Project Editor, managing frontlist titles from manuscript through to print. Since then, I’ve worked with publishers including Penguin Random House, Thames & Hudson, Murdoch Books, Smith Street Books and University of Western Australia Publishing.
I work across art and design publishing, biography, cookbooks, lifestyle titles and narrative nonfiction, supporting projects through structural development, line editing, copyediting and proofreading stages.
My editorial approach is attentive, collaborative and non-interventionist. I’m interested in clarity, rhythm and structure, but also in preserving the particular qualities that make a piece of writing feel alive and distinct. I care deeply about books as carefully made objects – and about the editorial processes that help shape them.
I hold a Master of Publishing and Communications (First Class Honours) from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Fine Art (Drawing and Printmaking) from the Victorian College of the Arts. I am an Associate Member of the Institute of Professional Editors and am currently studying a Master of Teaching (Early Childhood and Primary). My background in publishing, visual arts and education informs a particular interest in children's and educational publishing, particularly projects that bring together writing, illustration and visual storytelling.
I bring strong project management experience, a thorough understanding of publishing workflows and a close familiarity with house styles and editorial standards across Australian publishing.
I’m always happy to connect with publishers, editors and authors looking for freelance editorial support – please feel free to get in touch.
